Scott Beck Construction Inc. has been a member of “Build it Green” for over four years. As a result of our commitment to the environment, we have received Santa Cruz’s “Build it Green Building Award” several times based on our meeting “the highest environmental standards set by the City of Santa Cruz.” In March 2008, we built two green homes on Belvedere Terrace, both of which received the Green Building Award. We also built a six-unit condominium building that recently received the Green Building Award in May 2009.
We try to incorporate green features in everything we build—not for the sake of the award, but because it is the right thing to do.

Air Quality Features:

• Electronic filter for the furnace
• Low/no-VOC interior paint
• Recycled content carpet with low-VOC’s
• Formaldehyde-free insulation

Forestry Preservation Features:

• Fiber-cement siding
• FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) certified wood flooring
• Preservation of existing trees
• Engineered lumber for flooring and structural components
• Recycled content exterior decking

Water Saving Features:

• Water-efficient landscapes
• Flow reducers installed at faucets and showerheads
• Dual-flush toilets
